Fall 2024 BxCF Participatory Grantmaking RFP Pillars

  1. Community: The Bronx Community Foundation believes that every Bronxite deserves social, cultural, and economic support throughout their lifetime; we are committed to providing nonprofits and grassroots organizations in The Bronx with resources to help them and the communities they serve thrive. We provide grant funding to organizations that provide services in arts and culture, intergenerational and social services, community cohesion, and civic affairs to support our vibrant communities.
  2. Health: The Bronx Community Foundation is immensely proud to offer Fall 2024 heath grant funds. Grants are available to organizations increasing health equity and access through health and mental health services, food sovereignty through food pantries and community gardens, developing a healthier and safer environment, and expanding nutrition and wellness knowledge. These health initiatives work to remove systemic injustices that have caused our health and quality of life to lag behind the rest of the city.

Funds may be used to cover program and training materials, workshops, staff expenses, overhead, etc. In this round of funding, the applicant can use the funds for what is deemed necessary for the success of their proposed project/program and services.

The Participatory Grantmaking Process

BxCF believes that the most equitable and effective way to distribute our grantmaking funds to best support The Bronx community is to share decision-making power with a grantmaking committee comprised of community members, made up of diverse representatives of all stakeholders affected by BxCF grantmaking.

The goal of The Bronx Community Foundation Participatory Grantmaking Committee (PGC) is to bring together all the various stakeholders who work for organizations in the areas affected by our grantmaking to help make funding decisions and harness the collective expertise and experiences of the group, in those respective areas, to lead more effective and equitable grantmaking decisions and increase impact. Guided by BxCF’s mission, vision, and values, the PGC will evaluate and recommend grant awards.

PGC members commit to strict confidentiality and conflict of interest. PGC members also cannot review proposals from organizations with which they are affiliated. We thank our PGC for their time and commitment to this process.
